SNV Family Weekend-on Lake Orhid

SNV/The Netherlands Development Organization, the organization Fuji works for, annually hosts a family weekend. They take the families of ALL employees on a holiday weekend. This year they went to Lake Orhid, Macedonia, Here Jim is with Besnik and Hamit, two of the Peshkopi team, on the boat to a castle and monastery called Svetli Naum at the south end of the lake.

These are members of the Tirana team. Aletta, the CFO, is from South Africa and Wilbert. Wilbert and Meip (woman on the right) are a couple from the Netherlands.

Meip and I have bonded as we are spouses of the employed at SNV. She currently is involved in an organization, Kinderhaus, that provides shelter for "at risk children and youth" and provides counseling to women and children involved in trafficking and domestic violence.

Back on land I was able to get Fuji still enough to get her picture ;-)

The day was beautiful but the boat ride back to the hotel was greeted with this fine sunset. Can it get any better? Good people, good accommodations and that night great food and drink! The Dutch know how to have a good time. We Americans and Dutch are giving the Albanians a run for their Raki! (go to the next page)
