The Views & the Neighborhood
| These are three views from the house. The first (from left) is from the back of the house looking towards the Drin River to the Northwest at the bottom of the valley. The second from the balcony looks southeast and is of the apartment complex that we walk through to get to the house. The last, also from the balcony, looks southwest towards the Drin River. | ||

| One morning we awoke and found the wood we had ordered and had been waiting 3 weeks for, literally at our door step. It was great to finally get the wood. The bummer was that we had a Swiss friend visiting and he had parked his car in the garage and we discovered the wood as he was about to drive away to a meeting. Guess what - he was late to the meeting. The boys are part of the group that helped me split the wood as there was no way I could stop them from helping. A foreigner splitting wood was to much of a tourist attraction for the entire community. It should of taken me 2-3 days to split it but with all the help I had it took me a week.;-) | ![]() |
But the experience of working with the boys and meeting their parents was very rewarding. They taught me the Albanian techniques for splitting hard wood and I taught them safety procedures for working together. I didn't want any of them running home less a finger, toe or limb which was very possible as safety is not a well practiced art here. |
