Our House
| We literally live at the edge of town. The road, if one could call it that, ends at our front gate. As you enter through the gate there is a gravel driveway that passes by grapes and apple trees that lead to our front steps. Behind the house is a small corn field then a canyon. | ![]() |

As one enters the front door there are the stairs that go to the bedroom and office that has the balcony. The door to the right leads to the kitchen and living room. Straight back is the gear room (aka junk room) with the washing machine and to the left of the washer is the bathroom. |
| The kitchen and living room is the main living
area of the house. In the winter this will be the area we live in, as
houses are made of brick, there is no insulation at all, and no central
heating systems. Heat is generally provided by wood cook stoves or portable
propane or electric heaters in Albanian homes. This room now has a wood stove in it that we purchased in Macedonia. We had to get it in Macedonia as we could only purchase a wood cook stove in Peshkopi and we wanted something that could heat better and more efficiently than a cook stove. And as we sit here writing this we are enjoying the warmth of the wood stove we are very glad we made this choice. |
