Darts Tournment
On a hot summer afternoon we were invited to the third annual international Tirana dart tournment. Initally we not interested in the darts but the beer and opportunity to meet new people attracted us.
Julian, from the British Embassy, took us under his wing and taught us the rules and techniques of the game. It is more complicated than we had thought with the various weights if the darts, tail fin structure, throwing and scoring strageties. But like bowling after a couple of beers who cares-its about socalizing!
In this small backyard there were about 80 people from a dozen countries. Here we have an American, Brit, Dutch and a Belarussian.
The scoring sheets. In the end, we did begin the understand the double elimination tourment schedule. We had a run of dumb luck and ending up in the semi-finals. It must of been the beers. The tournment started at 1 pm and we finally went home at 2 am. These internationals really know how to throw a party!
During this trip to Tirana our friend from Kosovo, Arton, was on holiday in Albania. He was at a costal resort and came to Tirana to visit us for an afternoon. In Kosovo, he owns the internet cafe that we frequently spent time in and became friends.
We spent a lazy day touring him around the city and settled down at the park by the lake to chat. Ahhhh, what a nice way to spend an afternoon. Friends and beer.
